NO (Normally Open) contact is in the open state when the relay or contactor is not energized. When the relay or contactor is energized, this contact closes, allowing current to flow. NC (Normally Closed) contact is in the closed state when the relay or contactor is not energized. When the relay or contactor is energized, this contact opens, breaking the current flow.
