Description
The LSZH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen) compound used in wires as per BS 7211 / BS EN 50525-3-41 is a thermosetting insulation material, classified as Type EI5 under BS EN 50363-5. It is designed for operating temperatures up to 90°C. Unlike traditional PVC, LSZH does not emit dense smoke or toxic, corrosive gases when burned, making it ideal for fire-safe applications. It is fire retardant, halogen-free, and engineered to produce minimal smoke and toxic emissions during combustion, while offering mechanical and electrical properties similar to PVC. The compound meets strict requirements with a halogen content below 0.5%, minimum pH of 4.3, and conductivity under 10 µS/mm. These wires use single-strand, solid, annealed plain copper conductors and are available in sizes from 1.5 sqmm to 35 sqmm.
